Super Mario World provavelmente foi o cartão de visita do Super Nintendo para a maioria. O jogo ainda hoje é um dos melhores jogos de plataforma de todos os tempos, e certamente um ótimo nome para começarmos a nossa lista de melhores jogos do SNES.
A trilogia Donkey Kong Country foi um marco dentro do Super Nintendo. Três jogos excelentes, que nos entregaram o que há de melhor no gênero plataforma side scrolling. Nesta lista, vamos destacar o melhor da série: Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest. O jogo melhorou absolutamente tudo em relação ao original, cumprindo a difícil tarefa de entregar algo superior. Este é um ótimo exemplo de como fazer uma continuação de um jogo excelente: pegue tudo que deu certo antes e melhore.

Se tem um jogo que sintetiza toda a nostalgia de jogar Super Nintendo nos anos 90, é Top Gear. Sua trilha musical conquistou tremendo espaço na memória afetiva de seus fãs, e sua gameplay também vale destacar. Mesmo não sendo projetado para competições de alto nível, diversos jogadores organizam torneios e campeonatos amadores, fazendo com que o jogo tenha uma das comunidades mais ativas atualmente.
One of the SNES' last releases before the Nintendo 64 stepped into the spotlight, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 effectively summed up the era that preceded it – offering a definitive, jam-packed, nothing-held-back edition of one of the two franchises that most defined the early '90s fighting craze. Nintendo famously wimped out with the first Mortal Kombat, forcing Midway to censor its violence while Genesis players enjoyed all the blood and gore intact. By the time Ultimate MK3 came around, though, the Big N let the carnage unfold unchecked.
Jordan Mechner broke new ground in the late '80s with the release of his original Prince of Persia, a platformer that innovatively captured live actors' real-world movements to use as the basis of animation for in-game heroes. The SNES, responding to the new technique through the following years, was then home to several "cinematic platformers" that adopted a similar style – and Flashback was nearly the best of them all. Telling the tale of a brainwashed government agent on a mission to undermine an invading force of aliens disguised as humans, Flashback combined its smooth action/platforming with unique vector-graphics cinematic cutscenes. An incredibly striking journey every step of the way, and unlike anything else on the SNES. Well, most anything else. But we'll get to that.
7. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island
Quem era fã de games de futebol nos anos 90 certamente passou horas na frente da telinha comandando craques da seleção brasileira como o goleirão Da Silva, o lateral Cícero, o zagueiro Paco, o meia Beranco e o atacante Allejo. Todos eles eram inspirados nos jogadores da Copa de 94. Tá lembrado? O game era bem dinâmico e competitivo, além de bastante realista (para os padrões da época).
Selecionar apenas dez jogos de Super Nintendo, também apelidado de Super NES e SNES, é um desafio gigantesco e nada fácil. Lançado em 1990 no Japão, o console 16-bits é lembrado com carinho e considerado uma relíquia por muitas gerações. O hardware foi a casa de games que marcaram a história e continuam relevantes até os dias de hoje.
Street Fighter 2 (1994)
Com uma biblioteca mundial de mais de 1000 games, pode ser uma decisão árdua escolher apenas 20 deles para figurarem na lista dos melhores jogos do Super Nintendo. Mas, por outro lado, os anos de vida do saudoso SNES — cujo lançamento americano, como já citado, ocorreu há mais de três décadas — fizeram com que ele tivesse uma resposta dos seus maiores clássicos através de relançamentos e citações. Muitos dos jogos mais legais do SNES estão presentes ainda hoje na memória de tantos que viveram tais experiências ou que pretendem conhecer mais a fundo algumas preciosidades, dado as suas reputações.
On paper, Harvest Moon sounds like it would be no fun at all. It's a game where you have to wake up early, go out into the fields, work throughout the day tilling the land, planting seeds and harvesting crops and then crash back into your bed exhausted well after the sun's already set. It's the video game equivalent of work. And it's incredibly fun. Somehow, someway, Natsume's Harvest Moon series managed to make managing a farmstead in a video game feel exciting and rewarding – and this first game was so successful, in fact, that it spawned an entire franchise.
20. SimCity
De forma resumida, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles in Time dá aos players a chance de controlar uma das quatro Tartarugas Ninja, a fim de encarar hordas de adversários. Além do mais, o game foca em viagens no tempo, o que faz os cenários ficarem bem variados. Sendo assim, podemos dizer que esse é mais um título obrigatório.
Why play just one Kirby game when you could play nine of them at once? That was the idea behind Kirby Super Star, a compilation game that brought together a ton of smaller Kirby adventures into one grand package. You had Spring Breeze, a 16-bit remake of Kirby's Dream Land. You had Gourmet Race, a hybrid racing/platformer where King Dedede challenged our hero to see who could simultaneously run and stuff their faces with food the fastest. You had The Great Cave Offensive, where Kirby became a treasure hunter and even found The Legend of Zelda's Triforce. And that's just three of the nine! Kirby Super Star was an incredible game and incredible value.
The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (1991)
Home to hockey gaming's most devastating one-timers, NHL '94 was the game that truly defined hockey adaptations in the 16-bit era. And even beyond then – this game was so well-received and refined its predecessor's gameplay so thoroughly that many modern versions of the sport are still trying to clear the bar it set. Four-player gameplay was the huge draw, as you could finally play simultaneously against more than just one of your friends. Even as a single-player experience, though, the fast and frantic pace of skating and slap-shotting here felt utterly unrivaled. (Though, sadly, this sequel did remove the ability to brawl with opposing players.)
Super Mario Kart abriu precedentes para um tipo de jogo de corrida que é muito popular, até hoje. Você escolhe um personagem com características especiais e coleta itens durante as corridas. Estes itens podem ser utilizar para atrapalhar os oponentes e, claro, gerar muita discórdia entre amigos. Super Mario Kart também é muito divertido para se jogar sozinho, contando com 20 pistas em 4 copas de dificuldades progressivas.
NBA Jam
Um dos maiores clássicos e melhores jogos de Super Nintendo, Super Mario World estabeleceu o padrão para os jogos de plataforma na era 16-bit e tudo o que ele trouxe, como mundos extensos e característicos, passagens secretas, itens especiais e super poderes tornaram-se ainda mais relevantes para a cena gamer e para os jogos do gênero lançados posteriormente. Uma pérola que merece aplausos por refinar a experiência dos títulos Super Mario anteriores e por trazer diversão quase que infinita com um game que literalmente lançou o Super Nintendo em terras americanas.
Aqui temos a despedida de Final Fantasy do ambiente bidimensional em pixel art. Final Fantasy VI é um jogo que se distingue dos outros jogos da série, até então, por sua trama cativante e personagens carismáticos. O sistema de batalha também é muito consistente e não exige tanto grinding quanto seus antecessores. Uma experiência obrigatória para fãs de RPG.
Ten spots back at position #79, we said that the cinematic platformer Flashback was unlike almost anything else available on the SNES – this game is why that "almost" had to be in there. Out of this World is a similar experience to Flashback, with its usage of rotoscoped live-action animation and general style of gameplay. They were so similar, in fact, that many people thought Flashback was an Out of this World sequel. It wasn't. The two stand alone as their own separate experiences, and Out of this World's story of the unfortunate physicist Lester who gets accidentally teleported to an alien world is still a tale worth experiencing today.
16. Top Gear 2
Super Castlevania IV pega a fórmula clássica que Castlevania antes dela mudar completamente em Symphony of the Night, e a melhora com controles mais precisos, gráficos mais bonitos e uma trilha sonora incrível. O jogo certamente vai divertir os fãs da série ainda hoje, ou seja, não tem como deixá-lo de fora da nossa lista de melhores jogos do SNES.
X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse mistura muito bem elementos de jogos de ação de plataforma com elementos de beat em up. Seu diferencial é a utilização de diversos personagens icônicos da série, como Cyclops, Wolverine, Beast, Psylocke e Gambit.
