Is the Sourcebook bundle worth it?

It's a solid maybe. It is smooth, and master tier content sharing is definitely the way to go so your group doesn't all have to buy the bundle. I generally don't run modules, but it's definitely worked for my purposes.

Is D&D a waste of time?

Storytelling is a form of entertainment that has been around for as long as language has. So, no. Playing D&D isn't a waste of leisure time. It's a waste of time if you're not doing other productive things with your life, whatever that might look like.

Is D and D still popular?

Yes, D&D is back. But it's cool now (sort of). And legions are into it, including an unprecedented number of adult and female players, attracted by a popular recent revamp and new online playing options. It's the ultimate sign that nerd culture is now mainstream.

Is D&D online fun?

It's social. You can solo play in DDO and still have great fun. But adventuring with others can add excitement, despair, hilarity or grim seriousness to any quest. Finding other players that are similar to you in game activity and ability is a sure way to make this experience much more enjoyable.

Is DND beyond worth using?

First-time players may be happy with just the free tier and nothing else. More frequent players will likely want at least the Player's Handbook. And we highly recommend the D&D Beyond digital version. Players who are big fans of D&D will love the added features of the Hero tier.

Why is DND so expensive?

The book is the result of many people getting paid many years to produce a product. Sure, it only costs 25 bucks to print the book, but 5e was designed over three years. That's three years of salaries, plus paying an editor, graphic designer, and several artists.
